The Association of Colleges (AoC) Annual Conference and Exhibition, a must-attend event for senior leaders, policymakers and organisations linked to further education, is now just days away and we can hardly wait! It’s a real honour to exhibit in the company of some of the sector’s most influential figures who will be speaking at the event, including Secretary of State for Education, Nicky Morgan MP, and Professor Baroness Wolf of Dulwich CBE. So, we’re looking forward to meeting their many like-minded colleagues at our exhibition stand, too.
The theme of the 2015 conference, taking place 17-19 November at the ICC Birmingham, is ‘powering the economy’. This is in recognition of the unprecedented change faced by the sector, and the role of colleges in achieving the sustained recovery taking government priority. We too are passionate colleges have a major role to play in ensuring a prosperous future economy, and believe technology must be fully embraced and utilised to get there.
In order to continue thriving while budgets tighten, effective and efficient management is key. And this starts in the boardroom. To instill effective governance, governors’ meetings themselves must be efficient, which is where BoardPacks comes in. Our meeting management and governance solution makes meeting preparation simple by providing intuitive mobile access to papers in one place. Governors can easily and securely access all the information they need on their tablet device – whether iPad, Windows or Android – anywhere, at any time, while clerks can save valuable time and resources as they move towards a paperless environment.
A number of colleges, including the two Surrey campuses of Brooklands and leading tertiary body, Exeter College, are already experiencing the benefits of smoother, more effective meeting management thanks to BoardPacks. We’re delighted to have received some great feedback to share as a result.
For example, here are some kind words from Barbara Sweeney, Clerk to the Corporation of Exeter College: “The solution has been universally welcomed and one of the biggest benefits is the substantial savings on paper and printing costs. It’s also invaluable that we’re more flexible when members are working away from home so they can still review and update the papers once they’ve been changed. We can now make last-minute changes, upload and advise members and once refreshed, they can instantly review the latest version.”
