IT’S OFFICIAL: BOARDPACKS IS THE FUND MANAGEMENT INDUSTRY’S BEST TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION
It was the evening of the 2015 Investment Week Fund Services Awards on Wednesday 7 October and we’re delighted to announce BoardPacks left triumphant, as winner of the Best Technology Solution category.
Previous winners of the prestigious award are well-known for offering the strongest services and solutions within the fund management industry; all submissions undergo a stringent judging process from industry greats, which this year included Managing Director of Avida International, Bart Heenk, and previous editor of Financial Times Magazine’s Investment Adviser, Deborah Benn.
With the awards now in their third year, 50 entries across 12 categories were shortlisted, which inevitably put us up against some tough competition. They say, “like attracts like” and it so happened we were in the company of champions from the evening’s opening. Our table also hosted Morningstar, winner of the Best Thought Leadership Paper, and Best Fund Service Provider, BNP Paribas Securities.
In assessing submissions, judges looked at evidence of a solution and satisfactory client outcome, key service differentiators, the use of technology and innovation brought to the task, levels of ongoing service and support to the client. An element of online voting was also included.
An additional stipulation of the application process was to submit a case study for review and so BoardPacks was acknowledged as the industry’s Best Technology Solution in part on account of work conducted with Arcus IP. BoardPacks has helped the Luxembourg-based independent fund manager achieve a marked increase in efficiency in the way in which meetings are organised, managed and documented safe in the knowledge that sensitive data is carefully stored in compliance with strict governance procedures.
Gianmarco Cremonesi, Partner, Arcus IP has said, “There is a key requirement for our boards to be properly managed and there are a lot of regulations to ensure we do not jeopardise the overall structure. Having properly controlled, documented and organised meetings is vital, as it is recognised by our investors as fundamental to remove any risk and uncertainty around the management of their investment.
“We must always demonstrate the path we took to reach decisions and it is imperative for us to provide evidence that all decisions have been discussed accordingly and that all the managers and directors have been properly informed. BoardPacks enables us to document evidence of the decision making process and the underlying reason behind the analysis performed.”
Indeed, the judges praised BoardPacks governance and meeting management software, stating: “The judges felt that eShare’s BoardPacks catered particularly well for the growing requirement to provide improved security and a transparent audit trail to board members. BoardPacks not only fulfills this need, but also demonstrates a strong, clear business benefit in doing so. According to the judges, BoardPacks deserves credit for providing a very sound solution to an under-appreciated part of the risk management and governance process, but one that is growing in importance.”
Part of Investment Week’s third annual Fund Management Summit (FMS), the gala dinner was held in the 5* London Marriott Hotel and was hosted by up-and-coming comedian Chris Turner. He’s making a name for himself with his quick wit impressively demonstrated by mixing free rapping with jokes about Latin grammar!
In summary, chair of the judging panel, Deborah Benn said: “There was an impressive range of solutions showcased in this year’s awards. It’s an encouraging sign of the level of innovation being employed to meet the increasingly complex administration and technology requirements of the fund management industry.”
